Can I tell you guys of one of my favorite offline stores? Greta + Bjørn is not only filled with amazing brands but its the most beautiful decorated store I have seen. The lovely Kathi has made an extraordinary job with her store in Prenzlauer Berg.
It is on my favorite street, Rykerstr. I got there often to visit my client AKEMI, to sip some coffee at No Fire No Glory or having the best Eggs Benedict in tows at Allan's Breakfast Club.
It is not only a physical store but an online as well. I find some of my favorite brands like Grey Label, Enfant DK, Monkind, By Heritage, Condor and the lovely art work from Gretas Schwester.
Not only I buy clothes for Pepa here, but cute things like toys, hair accessories, and home decor stuff.
As most of their merch is sorted by color, I find it very easy to find things I like. Let's face it, Pepas wardrobe is all about my favorite colors.
One of the highlights of this store is the kid's table. I can leave Pepa there for drawing and painting while I shop. Very very helpful.
Kathi is super lovely and warm with all kids, and sometimes organizes events for kids. Like last time the Sale & Batches was super fun and a success. Follow the store on Instagram to see the upcoming events and the special sales. And if the sun is shining, you might be surprised she has prosecco and a big smile to offer.
If you are around Pberg, just jump into the store and check it out! I am sure you will love it. And say "Holla" to the awesome Kathi on my behalf!
Summer. How isn't in love with summer? For me, it is time of warmth, sun and flowers. I always wanted to wear a white dress and a flower crown and run through the meadows. At least that was my idea of european summer while growing up. Blame it on the swedish "Midsommar" and the beautiful pictures of it in my encyclopedia.
So now that we had a Midsommer Festival in Berlin, I decided to make us some crowns. There are so many different ways to make them, but this one seemed the most "Toddler-Proof" of them, As i was sure Pepa would be grabbing it and throwing it around.
You need the following:
1. Flowers - you can buy them or get some wild ones (just be sure they aren't poisonous or leak or uncomfortable to the touch)
2. Leaves - You can try any kind of greens
3. Flower Tape.- You can order it online or buy them at Cakeville
4. Flower Wire - Get it online or at any plant market
5. Ribbon (optional)
6. Wire cutter or old scissors
Measure your head and toddlers head and using the flower wire, make 3 rounds and close twisting the wire itself. try it on and see if it fits and have some room for the flowers. It should fit, but not too tight.
Cover it all with flower tape, and try again. Now this is the base for any kind of crown or wreath you will make.
The little pieces of flowers or leaves and roll them with tape. I alternated baby´s breath, some purple little flowers I found and some leaves: white, purple, green, white purple & green. You decide which order and design you want. I used the bigger flowers at the front and the smaller at the back.
Keep on going until there is just 2 cm left. Add a ribbon and you are done! This is a very sturdy and child proof crown. Pepa threw it around the festival several times, and it is still intact. Dry, but looking the same.
I paired this with a GAP Kids dress and a Benetton jacket with white Adidas Sneakers. Everyone loved it. and Pepa looked at herself for hours in the mirror. Sooooo making this on other days and not only for Midsommer.
Vietnaaaam! My dream trip ...finally! But backpacking with a baby under 1 could be one of the most challenging things you can do. So I took my time to pack my back (well, Philipp's Backpack) Here you can find everything I picked and my reason to it ;) Later I will tell you what I shouldnt have packed, what I should, what I forgot.. or maybe I packed to perfection! hahaha as if?
The most important for this vacation was sun protection. Pepa is under one year and needs a lot of protection against the asia sun. So I decided to go for the SS17 TinyCottons Moujik Bathing suit and surf shirt that has 50 SPF protection. I got it from LittleHipstar Store (amazing customer service btw)
I was deciding to go for the Sun Hat from Tiny Cottons as well, but got Pepa a beautiful MarMar Copenhagen Sun Hat I can combine with regular clothes too.
SunBlock is a must, but please check the age of your baby and the ingredients of it...Sun block can be dangerous for babies. Some water spray is great for hot weather. I got Baby Evian during my trip to France last week, but you can get it in Amazon here.
I decided to go for my most colorful bikinis and no straps as I will indeed be on tank tops a lot. I use alwasy sun block on my face to avoid wrinkles, but once in a while when I am already tanned, I use Sun accelerator... baaad me, bad! Oh yeah! i avoided the bikinis pepa can pull a string and baaaaam naked butt in the beach!
I decided for Pastel and blues for Pepa in this vacation. Blouses, tshirts, tank tops and loads of shorts.
Tops from left to right:
Zara Tunica, Piñata Pum Tank top, Zara blouse (similar here) Carters tunica, Gray label shirt.
Bottoms from left to right:
Bobo Choses Bloomers, Carters jeans bloomers, Handmade Rapunzel bloomers from We are knitters.
Me color as always ;) mostly black, grey and white :) I added some rose colored shorts as well. I am in love with the fabrics from T by alexander wang so I mostly use those in summer.. but the other tops are perfect for summer too and super soft as well.
Tops from left to right:
T by Alexander Wang Tank top, Arnie Says Plain white tshirt, Theory Charcoal tank top, T by Alexander Wang cream tshirt, Acne Studios V-Neck Tshirt, T by Alexander Wand grey tank top
Bottoms from left to right:
Bikbok hot pants, Silk shorts from Veronica B Vallenes, Zara hot pants, track hot pants, ASOS High waist hot pants
Bringing for Pepa a pair of grey spring trousers for norther Vietnam, as it is colder there as well as a jeans overall we found in a store in France and 2 blouses from Zara as well, one is a body/blouse that had long arms and I tailored it to be a short arm shirt.. writing a blogpost soon on how to do this.
For the Island of Pho Quoc, 2 dresses from Baby GAP and a jeans dress with bloomers and hat we found in a small store in France.
For me, a pink jumpsuit I bought in a tiny french store in Verona, A blouse shirt from Samsøe & Samsøe, The Art Dress from Rodebjer (my favorite for a sunburn) a Mikoh white beach romper and a Blue Ralph Lauren Jumpsuit.
I am bringing a Imps & Elfs Muslin Cover for warm days, or protect Pepa from the sun, A Towel from Numero 74, a Numero 74 blanket made smaller to use as a bibdana, Enfant DK scarf in rose and Numero 74 mustard scrf.
Shoes and socks for Pepa... I bought a pair of sandals only to realize that I already had sandals on that size but almost in the same color... hahaha but well, I am bringing both.
1. ENFANT DK Brown sandals
2. Zara Kids sneakers
3. KAVAT Cognac Sandals
and to use with sandals: Condor Socks.. always put socks on kids or babies in summer, you will avoid blisters and feet pain, we do that in warm countries...always!
As someone isnt german enough if they don't bring a pair of Adiletten, I got myself a pair. Taking my favorite Sneakers AF1 from Nike and a pair of summer sandals as well. Found finally some Silk socks for summer at & Other Stories and I cant get enough of them. Silk gets wam when the weather gets colder, and colder when hotter. Best material!
DIAPERS! loads of them as I dont know when will I find them again, swimming diapers, Baby Formula and food for 10 days. I have never been in vietnam so I rather been prepared than sorry, I know that I have a week to find food, diapers and Milk and that just gives me a piece of mind. I found in a French supermarket food in bags instead of jars, that makes it lighter to carry and I am less worry about spillage.
OUTWEAR: A wind Jacket from United Colors of Benetton for Pepa and a summer cardigan from FUB. For me a Arnie Says Summer sweater and a Filippa K Spring parka for our day tour at Halong bay. It is windy and we rather be prepared :)
I packed a backpack with some travel stuff like 3 toys, water, diaper bag, 2 baby bottles, desinfection spray and wipes, regular wipes, 2 fruit meals, 3 pacifiers, our Marsupi carrier, a thermometer, cables, chargers, camera, computer, wallet, documents, cream, eye drops a hat i got last minute for Pepa and earphones. And that is it, all that is what I packed for almost a month backpacking with a baby. I will let you know what I missed, what I never used and what was an essential! Good bye Germany and Hello Vietnam!
Christmas. An amazing time to be with friends and family. We spent it with my lovely Norwegian friends this year, we flew to Oslo to have an amazing time, filled with "Kose", food and love. Some of my dearest friends live there, so what better opportunity for Pepa to fly for the first time. It was a very peaceful flight even though I have always been so scared of babies on a plane (even more than snakes on a plane). she slept all the way and she was as happy as a unicorn.
We spent a whole week and it couldn't have been better. Pepa´s Godmother, Helena, lives there as well and she made terrific pictures of Pepa. Take a look:
Bonnet: Briar Handmade
Sweater and wool pants: Zara
Nussarashttp://www.justanotherfoodstory.com/ Baby, Amanda:
Alpaca Romper: Made by me after Paelas pattern
Wintersuit: Lala bought at Stylechild
Coat: "Era Coat" from Acne Studios
Belt: Tiger of Sweden
What did you do normally on christmas? Do you ever fly away from home for the holidays?
I like going the natural route if possible, but on the other hand I love facts! So a lot of this magnetic-bracelets, aura healing crystals, green tea detoxifying foot patches, etc just makes me drive up the walls. Though lately I have been seeing many babies wearing All-Natural Amber Necklaces and I thought I should take a look at that hype? trend? german custom?
What I learnt through my old friend Google: They seem to be necklaces that are supposed to relieve teething pain and make it all-around a more tolerable experience. Even Supermodel Gisele Bündchen posted a photo to her Instagram showing her son wearing a teething necklace. The way they’re supposed to work is by the Succinic Acid contained in the amber. When placed against the skin, the acid is supposed to be absorbed into the bloodstream, giving a natural pain killing effect.
I went to the next baby store and got Pepa an Amber Necklace. It looked terrible and was orange and it just didn't fit AT ALL with any outfit. I thought: It has to be a better looking Amber Necklace. And thanks to Instagram I found Summer & Storm.
Beautiful Amber Necklaces made in Australia. And when I saw the beautiful forms and colors, I fell in love with "The PROTECTIVE kind"
It is made out of FLUORITE + POLISHED BALTIC AMBER. And as it says on their website: "Baltic amber has been used for thousands of years for many ailments. It is believe to help ease pain, stimulate the healing process and posses ani-inflammatory properties. The ancients would traditionally gift amber to their young children to help protect them from misadventure and help ease growth."
I am sometimes a bit superstitious (have to admit that!!!) and while growing up in South America, we believed that having a red wristband would protect you to the evil eye. So I was very happy this necklace has Fluorite. "It is a highly protective stone. Wearing the crystal close to the body it known to help improve the physical and mental coordination. Emotionally fluorite is known to have a stabilising effect on the body and is also known to protect the body from chaotic vibrations by evening them out in an orderly manner."
Visually it is WAY better than the generic Amber necklaces and they threw in some protection for the evil eye.. SOLD! The Amber stones come in a beautiful very dark brown just like Pepa's eyes and the crystals in some of my favorite colors.
I read a lot about some accidents of babies wearing teething necklaces. But if you buy the right size and remove it at night it shouldnt be a problem at all. Pepa's new necklace measures 33cm.
Does it work? The only think I can say is: I noticed a change of mood while wearing it. Today Pepa was radiant and happy. Best mood in days since she started teething. And if putting her a necklace MAY improve my daughters life. Then so be it! (at least better than painkillers, tylenol & Co.)
The PROTECTIVE Kind its sold out, but you can get The CHAKRA Balance that is made of the same crystals.
...there is a way, says my mom. I have always been terrible with sewing. I was that problem child in school that was sent to a very old manual sewing machine because of all the nonsense I used to do. And that is why I never learnt to sew something besides a table cloth.
My mom on the other hand, is a genius with the sewing machine, dresses, patchworks, you name it. She has the patience of a saint and the ability of a seamstress. I think I have so much to learn from her.
As I am in the black forest for 10 days with very limited internet and my folks work everyday on their hotel and restaurants, I need to fill my days while pepa naps.
Helena lent us 2 bonnets in Oslo during this xmas and I loved how they looked on Pepa. You can by them online, but takes weeks to wait for them, they are very expensive and I thought I might be able to sew them on my own. So I started searching the internet for patterns but without sucess :(
So I decided to design my own Bonnet (with some help of my mom)! It took two days to design and sew it but I think I made it. I will be making a blogpost once I am balck in berlin on how to sew a bonnet including the pattern.
If you could, what would you sew for your baby/kid? which kind of patterns would you like to have an learn?
We are counting the days to our trip to Oslo!!! And we already started packing. Not only packing but shopping for winter things. In Berlin is still not that cold, so we were already set for here, but Oslo is WAY colder and that means: SHOPPIIIIING.. and we do love to shop! So we called Helena (one of Pepa's Godmothers) as she lives in Oslo and she knows so much about kids because of her job. And here are our Oslo Winter Essentials:
1. Bugaboo High Performance Footmuff
This Footmuff has two detachable covers - one polyester padded for spring to fall and another down-filled for Winter... not to mention how soft it is inside!
2. MP Denmark Woolen Balaclava Hat
What I really liked about this hat is that the inside is cotton knitted and outside wollen. Pepa tends to sweat a lot and this makes it way better for her. Snug fit, ultra soft, very warm and cozy. It is a simpler, warmer and a better alternative to a hat-and-scarf combo for winter fun.
3. Joha Wool Overall
As Pepa always wear hats, I didnt think I would need a hoodie, but still i need something to keep her warm when we are outside with or without the footmuff, and she is always sweating indoors if I dress her too warm, so the best thing was to add this wool overall to her outfits to keep her warm and cozy.
4. Mini Rodini Long-Legged Body
Or as I would call it: Winter Underwear. It has deers everywhere so we had to buy it! the material is so soft and it is about 90% made out of organic materials.. a must have for sure!
5. Lamb Boots from Paradies Kloss
Organic, beautiful, soft and warm. We went to Lila Lämmchen Shoe Store and the awesome lady working there found the perfect shoes for Pepa. It was the first time we were at a shoe store and the experience was great!
I get sometimes tired of looking for nice bodies/underwear for Pepa. The ones you get in the regular stores like Zara, H&M and ToysRUs are white and plain, and they dont fit the woolen or knitted things I buy or make. And the ones I like, they are over expensive.
Many people will say: "Is just underwear", "it looks ok" or "you are being too picky" but at the end of the day, I would like to have some natural colored bodies that just make my little deer look even more beautiful.
So I remembered that my mom used to dye my tights with tea. Every tea will give a different color to fabric. I started with Classic black tea, that gives a natural old rose color to it. You can try different teas to go to a more yellow creamy color or regular cream.
What you will need for 1-2 bodies:
1 bag of Tea (more bags for a darker color)
a wooden spoon
Pre-wash your textiles, even if they are new. You should start the procedure before they dry. In a bowl add the boiling water and tea bag and after 2 minutes, add the body or textile.
Swirl the body around and try to get it down to the bottom of the bowl so that it's completely submerged. If pieces start popping up, use a plate to hold it under.
Let it steep for at least 1 hour. The stronger the tea and the longer you let the cloth steep, the deeper the stain. I let it soak overnight.
Remove it from the brew and briefly rinse in a cold water bath. Add a splash of vinegar to set the color and let soak for 10 minutes. If you decide the stain is just too light, repeat the steps and stain it again.
Staining or dying textiles with natural products such as coffee and tea is an inexpensive, non-toxic method. It's an easy way to create a vintage look, or to disguise those badly stained kitchen towels—not to mention, the process smells a whole lot better than using commercial dyes!
Buying a stroller is one of the most important things you do before your baby arrives. We see what our friends have and read endless reviews to see which one is the best one... or the one that looks the prettiest. Thing is, One size doesnt fit all. Every stroller is made for a different kind of person, lifestyle and use.
As I used to live in Oslo, I noticed most people had a Stokke. So of course my first choice was to get a Trailz. But I dont live in Oslo, or in Norway. I live in Berlin... I dont go through the woods for long strolls anymore or battle the thick snow every winter. My problems now are from jumping in and out of a crowded train, fitting in between a mass of impatiente people to being able to fit inside a tiny restaurant of Café.
I noticed that 50% of my daily bad mood came from my stroller. It was too big for the city, too hard to maneuver, too bulky for my lifestyle. As a food blogger, I need to get in to tiny places, small restaurants and small stores, and taking in an out a sleeping baby, is not fun for her or me.
So I changed to Bugaboo Cameleon. And then is when I noticed this is the stroller I needed. Simple things like the size of it, the weight of it and how easy I can jump in and out of a train or underground. The versatility to take the place of a chair in any stablishment, the fact that you can push it with no effort at all.
But it is not only the comfort of this stroller what makes it special, but the optics as well. I got a military-inspired bugaboo cameleon by Diesel in a dark green anodized chassis and is complemented by an all-over green canvas. not to mention the soft black leather details.
It just fits my style, And the cool thing is, you can change the optics of the stroller in a second. Get an extra canpy or another footmuff like I did, I can change the style from Black to sunny Off-White of bright days.
One of my favorite parts of this stroller is the Hand Break. You have no idea how many shoes and sneakers I ruined during the first 6 months of Pepa, Including a pair of Rose Special Edition Nike NB. But now I have a break I can easily reach with my hand. No more dirty shoes, no more leather breakage!! Just the best for Shoe Lover like Myself.
So I went on this Autumn Day out for a stroll with my Pal and Photographer Fabian and he made me look good in a Berlin Grey Day while sipping coffee and talking about the kids, photography and parenthood. You should follow his instagram account as well.
I am Wearing:
Acne Studios ERA Coat
Tiger of Sweden Belt
Jeffrey Campbell LITA shoes
ASOS Felt Hat
Vintage calf leather gloves
Pepa is wearing:

MP Denmark Winter Hat
I'm Andrea - a food enthusiast and blogger. Recently I noticed I have been answering a lot of questions about what I buy for my daughter Pepa, or what are my thoughts in certain "mom stuff". This is how I realised I should start a blog about being mom.. Or "Mom" like me! I hope to share my thoughts, amazing, things I buy and amazing recipes with other moms, just like me!
